The original Professor X and Magneto - Sir Patrick Stewart and Sir Ian McKellen - will return in Bryan Singer's "X-Men: Days Of Future Past."
"I'd like to officially welcome back James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender, & Nicholas Hoult to #XMEN for #DaysOfFuturePast," the director Tweeted on Tuesday.
Followed by another Tweet sure to delight mutant-loving fans everywhere.
"Thrilled to announce @ianmckellen118 & @SirPatStew are joining the cast of #XMEN #DaysOfFuturePast #magneto #professorX More to come..."
But how will the original X-Men actors star alongside the younger versions of themselves - played by James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender -- in the sequel to "X-Men: First Class"?
The director told Deadline, "The movie is called 'X-Men: Days Of Future Past', use your imagination."
Last month, Famke Janssen, who played Jean Grey in the first three "X-Men" movies, teased that her character could also rise from the ashes.
"One never knows," she told MTV. "Jean Grey, the Phoenix... she finds a way to reincarnate herself constantly, so one never knows."
"X-Men: Days Of Future Past" is slated to hit theaters in summer 2014
