Actress Jody Sta. Maria is an in-demand cover girl these days.
Pretty favorite
Jodi, who started out as one of ABS-CBN's teen stars, has now established herself as a formidable actress. One of the most recent milestones of her career is her performance in the indie flick, Aparisyon. The 2012, which is directed by Vincent Sandoval, competed in the 5th Deauville Asian Film Festival in France just last month. In it, Jodi plays a nun who has to deal with the aftermath of being brutalized.
But, of course, these days, the public knows Jodi better as Maya in the hit TV series, Be Careful With My Heart. It's probably the reason why she's become one of the favorite cover girls of local magazines. After her stunning turn in Preview magazine's March issue, Jodi graces the cover of the April-May 2013 issue of Breakfast magazine.
The Shaira Luna connection
Breakfast credits the following people for the cover: Samantha Sales (writer), Shaira Luna (photographer), AJ Alberto (stylist), Roviel Castor (make-up artist), and Felipe Ballesca (hair stylist). The cover and Jodi's other photos were shot on location at BULB Studios and Rue Bourbon. Shaira—who herself gained fame in the past as one of the gifted children featured in Promil ads—shared the cover's image via her Instagram account. Shaira also revealed that this was her fourth cover for Breakfast. People had initially expected Shaira to become a scientist or a doctor, but she successfully "reinvented" herself as a photographer. In that sense. Shaira has something in common with Jodi.
Second wind
When Jodi abruptly took a hiatus due to her pregnancy in 2005, there were showbiz pundits who feared she would never get her groove back. But, Jodi, has proven them wrong. Though she had to deal with being separated from her husband, she seems to have moved on. She's a doting single mom to her seven-year-old son Thirdy.
