Sr. Supt. Jose Chiquito Malayo the chief of police of Zamboanga City has been kidnapped by retreating armed followers of MNLF founder Nur Misuari. Malayo was put to small boat and brought to small island says reports.
Senior Supt. Jose Chiquito Malayo was captured in Barangay Mampang by the MNLF elements, according to  Senior Supt. Edwin de Ocampo, logistics officer of the Police Regional Office 9 (PRO9).
Ocampo, however, did not immediately give additional details as to how and what time Malayo was abducted. Reports said the MNLF soldiers abducted the police officer in a seaside town and dragged Malayo to a waiting pumpboat. The rebels were reported to have fled towards a small island.
The incident happened amid claims by the military that they had already sealed every possible escape route available to the MNLF.
