Mother who maltreated her daughter in viral video caught in Negros Occi. It was clearly verified that a resident from Negros Occidental who was caught on video beating her 3-year-old daughter who was taking a bath has promised not to do it again.
In an interview, the woman said that she failed to control her temper and for the reason that she is not feeling well by that time.
The mother hit her child on the face using a garment, punched her and hit her with a dipper despite appeals for her to stop beatings.
As the woman explained her side, she said ”Paliliguin ko muna siya bago ko pakainin tapos ayaw niya kasi naglalaro ng sticker, masakit pa ngipin ko noon tapos may labahan pa ako iyak pa ng iyak.”
The incident was reported to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in September but the video only became viral recently, with many people asking Bayan Mo i-Patrol Mo to look into the case.
Right now, the woman and her child are undergoing counseling, and she promised that it won’t happen again.
Elsie Malabon, an officer of the Escalante City social welfare office, said they explained to the woman the rights of a child.
“Kahit ina siya, kung patuloy yung pag-abuso sa bata, pwede makuha sa kanyan iyung bata,” she warned. “Ang bata talagang ganyan. Normal sa kanila ang ‘di nakikinig… iyung pasensya i-extend.”
“Nung una namin na-meet (mother), problematic siya pero may changes,” Malabon said.
A child psychologist said children who suffer abuse are affected until even when they grow older.
“Nawawalan ng trust kasi mula pamilya magkakaroon ka ng trust and security, ‘di ito nafi-feel ng bata na abused,” Maria Luz Estudillo said. “Pag sinaktan mo, hindi maiintindihan ng bata. Ang naramdaman ng bata ang sakit lang.”
She said, parents talk to their children instead of inflicting physical punishment on them.
The DSWD said it is continuously monitoring the woman and her child to prevent the incident from happening again.
