A concerned lawyer said in a complaint filed against Freddie Aguilar on Thursday that the singer “deserves to be castrated to spare the children”.
According to a report from The Philippine Daily Inquirer, lawyer Fernando Perito filed qualified seduction charges against Aguilar at the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office on Thursday. Qualified Seduction is defined in Article 337 of the Revised Penal Code of the Philippines and is classified as a crime against chastity.
For Aguilar to be found guilty of this charge, he needs to be proven to have had sexual intercourse with the “virgin over 12 years and under 18 years of age” committed by means of deceit and abuse of authority, of confidence, or of relationship. If proven guilty, Aguilar may face up to four years and two months in prison. Part of the complaint says that Aguilar “wants to take advantage of the adulation of the child by pretending to be loving her and allegedly marrying her later” adding that “this old man deserves to be castrated to spare the children.” According to Perito in the complaint, the 16-year-old minor who is apparently in a relationship the popular “Anak” singer may just have been simply infatuated with the singer because of his popularity.
Aguilar, the complaint says, may have taken advantage of the girl. Perito asserts that he was outraged and scandalized by the admission made by Aguilar that he is in love with the 16-year-old girl and that they are currently in a relationship. Aguilar made headlines recently by revealing that he is indeed in love with the girl. Buzz surrounding the issue has been amplified by public declarations of love made by the two and the revelation that they are planning to get married once the girl becomes of legal age. According to Perito in his complaint, he has seen vulgar images of Aguilar and his girlfriend on the Internet. The lawyer also said that by publicly admitting and demonstrating his love for the minor, Aguilar violated morals and ethics “separating the adult from a child and the prey from the predator.” “What this old man had done was to prey on the innocent child (young) enough to be his granddaughter after allegedly being separated from his wife, which is no excuse,” Perito claimed, dismissing Aguilar’s claim that he thought the girl was not a minor because of his height. Perito also said in his two-page complaint that, “The offender, an old man, has an authority and moral influence over the child because of his popularity. And he must have devirginized her already every now and then.” The lawyer also said that if the minor’s parents gave consent to the relationship, they should also be held legally responsible. It should be noted that this is not the first time Perito has filed high-profile complaints about current events in the country. Last year, the lawyer urged the Senate impeachment court to cite in contempt members of the lower house who were members of the prosecution against former Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona for going to the media with their evidence. Also last year, Perito wanted to have Justice Secretary Leila De Lima disbarred, a move that cost De Lima her chance to be the next Supreme Court Justice. In 2011, Perito asked the Supreme Court to disbar Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte for punching a court sheriff.
