BIR filed Tax Evasion against Cedric Lee - 194.47 Million Pesos

BIR filed Tax Evasion against Cedric Lee. BIR found probable cause to file tax evasion charges against Cedri Lee's company Izumo worth 194.47 Million Pesos.

Cedric Lee has gotten himself into more legal problems aside from the multiple criminal charges he is facing at the Department of Justice for mauling “It’s Showtime” host Vhong Navarro.

The Bureau of Internal Revenue has filed a P194.47 million tax evasion charges against the businessman and other officers of his construction company Izumo at the DOJ.

Kim Henares, BIR commissioner said Lee failed to pay the right taxes of the government when he misdeclared that Izumo, where is the current president earned only P76.22 million from government contracts from 2006-2009.

BIR commissioner said that based on their assessment, Izumo earned P302.63 million worth contracts with several city and provincial governments from 2006 to 2009. She said based on the data they gathered Izumo won a P59.76 million worth contracts with San Juan City in 2006 and 2007.

She added Pasay City also had a P12.36 million contract with Izumo in 2008. Also, she said the provincial government of Davao del Sur also gave Izumo a P113.33 million contract in 2009, while the municipal government of Tagudin, Ilocos Sur had a P36.54 million contract in 2008 and 2009.

She said Lee is liable to the government for misdeclaration of the income of his company from 2006-2009. Earlier, the current administration of Davao del Sur, headed by Governor Claude Bautista, plans to file charges against Lee and the former officials of the province for an unfinished sports complex in their province.

Bautista said that based on the investigation conducted by the Commission on Audit (COA) the P500-million sports complex consisting of a coliseum, a rubberized track and an Olympic-sized swimming pool is only 75 percent finished.

He added that based on the original contract of the sports complex construction, Izumo started the work on June 16, 2009 and was scheduled to finish it on April 12, 2010. However, the multi-million project is still unfinished.

Bautista said he could not understand why his predecessor had not run after Lee nor filed a case against him and his company.

He said he will immediately file a case against the persons behind the unfinished sports complex once his office receives the COA report and other legal documents. (pinoy republic)
