Next to the Polish, Filipinos will be flocking to the Vatican City on Sunday to join the celebrations as Pope John Paul II is canonized. And for good reason.

Pope John Paul II is endeared to many Filipinos for the two visits he made to this country, one in 1981, when he beatified a Filipino religious martyr, and a second in 1995 for World Youth Day.

The World Youth Day Mass in Manila saw a record breaking attendance of five million people.
