Breaking News: Japanese F15 Fighter Jets Follow China Aircraft - Photo and video. China accused Japan on having a close encounter with China's military aircraft in a disputed airspace.
BEIJING, China- The Chinese Defense Ministry has accused Japan of hyping up a “close encounter” of military aircraft that ensued between the Japanese F15 fighter planes and the Air Force of China’s People’s Liberation Army, saying that the ground accusation aims to deceive the international community and “smear the images of China and Chinese military.”

In the video released by China Military Online, two F15 fighter plane from Japan closely followed the China’s Tu 154 on June 11 during the Air Force of the People’s Liberation Army’s routine patrol missions in the East China Sea Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ). The Chinese military estimated that the distance between the Tu 154 and the two Japanese F15 fighter planes is around 30 meters from 10:17 to 10:28.

According to the site, the reconnaissance aircraft YS-11EB and OP-3 of the Japanese Self-Defense Forces also conducted reconnaissance on the same day at the East China ADIZ. With regards to the related regulations, the Chinese military was able to identify and verify the Japanese fighter plane and estimated its distance of about 150 meters through its two J-11 aircrafts.

The actions of the Japanese aircraft caused serious concern on Chinese plane’s safety, the DM said in a statement. “The Chinese pilots’ operations are professional and standard with restraint. What Japanese pilots had done is dangerous and provocative.”

The DM also said that Japan has been conducting surveillance and interfering on Chinese warships and military aircrafts for a long a time that has placed these military facilities into danger. “It is the root of the China-Japan naval and air security issues,” the DM added.

The statement also accused Japan of “hypocrisy and dual character” for its “irresponsible, deceptive, and agitating remarks” to attack China. The DM challenged Japan to explain its side to China and the international community and reiterated that the Chinese government plans to take further action on the issue.

Responding to China’s stern warning, Yoshihide Suga, Chief Cabinet Secretary of Japan denied the allegations. “We believe there is no truth in China’s assertions that Japanese fighter planes came within 30 meters of a Chinese plane and severely affected the flight’s safety,” the secretary told InterAksyon.
