A young Filipino girl sings an amazing version of an OPM song while selling bibingka (rice cakes) at a sidewalk. In a video posted by Axel Sioson on Facebook last July 23, the little girl gladly belted out a song in her angelic voice. She effortlessly hit the high notes, singing a bit shyly yet with conviction.
Sioson captioned the video with ‘..panoorin yan tas ishare nyo narn..nagtitinda lng po ng bibinka” nkapasipag at nkapa galing “KUMANTA” (amazing girl .!)’
Barako Newsline also shared the video on their blog. Neither Sioson nor the blog post writer identified the talented young lady, but both agree she has great talent beyond doubt. Barako Newsline believes this young talent will go a long way, as long as she is given a chance to be trained and develop her talent.
Sioson encouraged people to watch the video and to share it to others, in hopes it would go viral and, perhaps, be discovered by a talent scout. To date, the video has already gained almost 29,000 shares.
Social media, after all, is a very powerful tool in making no-name talents become a popular hit. For example, talk show host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres is known for her generosity to these young talents. She has brought many talented Filipinos to the US for a guesting on her eponymous show.
Last year, she invited Aldrich Lloyd “LA” Talonding and cousin James Walter Bucong to sing on her show. She is also widely credited for helping Charice Pempengco achieve a strong presence in the international music scene.
Could this little girl be the next Pinoy singing sensation to hit YouTube/social media and make it to Ellen’s show? Or could she possibly get an invite to the next season of The Voice Kids or other syndicated local talent shows? Only time will tell.
Let’s just hope the video becomes so viral it would reach the eyes and the ears of local or international talent scouts.
