Breaking News: Typhoon Glenda to Enter Philippines Tonight July 13, 2014.
MANILA - The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) is expecting Tropical Storm Rammasun (international name) to enter the country tonight.
The storm is expected to enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) between 10 p.m. and 12 midnight and will be called "Glenda," PAGASA said.
The state weather bureau last spotted the tropical storm at 1,150 kilometers east of Bicol.
It carries maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of up to 80 kph, while moving westward at 23 kph.
The state weather bureau said "Glenda" is expected to make a landfall in Quezon province on Wednesday morning. However, it will already bring rains over Bicol on Tuesday morning.
If it continues its track, the storm could affect Metro Manila on Wednesday before it exits PAR on Thursday.
There is also a possibility that the storm will intensify into a typhoon, especially now that it is still on water, PAGASA said.
PAGASA added the storm will bring rains of up to 20 millimeters per hour or intense rainfall within its diameter
"Glenda" will be the seventh storm to enter PAR this year and the second in July after Typhoon Florita (international name: Neoguri).
