MANILA - Marlisa Punzalan, the Filipino teenager making waves in Australia's edition of "The X Factor," is one step closer to winning the talent search after clinching a spot in the Top 4 on Monday.
Punzalan, 15, got a standing ovation during the performance night on Sunday after belting out the Sia club hit "Titanium," which mentor Ronan Keating had her singing in a higher key than the original.
Her second performance in the episode themed "Killer Tracks and Curve Balls" was a rendition of the classic "Over the Rainbow," which similarly had the judges on their feet.
Thanks to her strong outing the previous night, Punzalan was one of three to be declared safe from elimination on Monday, along with Reigan Derry and Brothers 3.
Dean Ray and Caitlyn Shadbolt ended up in the Bottom Two, after getting the least number of votes. Three of four judges picked Ray to move on, eliminating Shadbolt.
Punzalan, considered a frontrunner in "The X Factor Australia" due to her powerhouse vocals, took to Facebook shortly after the results show to thank those who voted to keep her in the competition.
