Typhoon Ruby To Hit Samar - December 6, 2014. Dolores, Samar.

MANILA - Typhoon "Ruby" (international name "Hagupit") is expected to make landfall in Dolores, Eastern Samar at around 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

Speaking to radio dzMM, PAGASA weather forecaster Manny Mendoza said the typhoon is now forecast to hit land in Dolores at around 8 to 10 p.m.

"Sang-ayon po sa mga available data, 8 to 10 in the evening na po ang landfall...kasi po bumilis na po [ang bagyo]," Mendoza said.

He said Ruby, previously moving at 13 kilometers per hour (kph), is now moving at 16 kph.

In a separate interview on dzMM this morning, Science and Technology Secretary Dr. Mario Montejo had said that Ruby is expected to make landfall in five areas.

The typhoon, packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 220 kph, was last spotted 230 kilometers east of Catarman, Northern Samar at 1 p.m.

In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said public storm warning signal number 3 has been hoisted over nine areas: Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Masbate, including Ticao Island, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Samar, and Biliran.

Meanwhile, Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas has ordered the Philippine National Police (PNP) to immediately warn residents in Dolores and enforce evacuation ahead of the expected landfall of the typhoon tonight.

The government is also now discussing how to bring relief goods to Dolores.
