Strong Magnitude 7 Earthquake to Rock Manila, Luzon - The Big One

September 4, 2015: Strong magnitude 7 earthquake to shake  Metro Manila, Luzon in coming weeks says Phivolcs. Everyone should be prepared and remember what we did when we have an earthquake drill.

Phivolcs said that the "Big One" or Magnitude 7 earthquake to hit Luzon, Philippines in the coming weeks. The Philippines specially Metro Manila (NCR) made a wide earthquake drill to make sure that people in the areas are ready if the strong earthquake rocks the region.

“Another possible occurrence of earthquake would be in Philippine Trench in Governor Generoso in Davao Oriental, which was also hit by an 8.3 magnitude earthquake on April 15, 1924. When this happens again, it could affect Davao with an 8.0 magnitude and can also cause tsunamis,” ayon kay Cabanlit.

“Part of the Mindanao fault zone is Surigao City down to Mati City in Davao Oriental with a total length of 320 kilometers.
