Ferdie may become super typhoon as it gaining strength while heading Batanes on September 11, 2016 updates.



Typhoon ''Ferdie'' intensifies further as it continues to move west northwest, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

Typhoon Ferdie is packing maximum sustained winds of 185 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts of up to 220 kph as of 4 p.m.

Spotted 780 kilometers east of Aparri, Cagayan, Ferdie is expected to bring moderate to heavy rains within its 500-kilometer diameter, PAGASA said.

The weather bureau has hoisted tropical cyclone warning signal 1 over Cagayan, Northern Isabela, Kalinga, Apayao, Abra, Ilocos Norte, Batanes and Babuyan Group of Islands. 

If the storm continues to move west-northwest at 22 kph, it will leave the Philippine area of responsibility on Thursday afternoon via Itbayat, Batanes.
