So…seems a few of you think I bear a resemblance to the beautiful, fun and candid Vice Ganda! First of all, that’s hilarious. I actually fully agree with you! In January, I was covering the Feast of the Black Nazarene for my Channel News Asia travel show, “One in a Million” and noticed so many people waving at me. Akala ko kasi host ako ng “Style Factor.” Hindi pala! I was standing underneath Vice Ganda’s billboard in Quiapo and people assumed I was him/her? Whatever. Okay lang yan sa akin kasi cool naman siya at stylish pa, sobra!
In many ways, Vice and I are kindred spirits; We’re both rather cheeky, outgoing, quirky and love a goodchika-chika. When I tell my friends about the reference, sobrang shocked sila! Siguro kasi totoo pala. But really, a few years ago I would have been offended. I was 65 pounds heavier then so my self-esteem was already really shot. But I’m at the point in my life where I see the humor in everything. I chose to cut and style my hair this way because it is versatile, practical, chic and stylish. Ang init pa sa Pinas so long hair just does not work with my lifestyle!
A lot of people misconstrue short hair coupled with a strong personality as being masculine traits. I can assure you, ladies, that you should embrace who you are and never back down from that. You cannot and should not feel the need to please everybody or anybody! As long as you are honest with yourself and comfortable expressing yourself in your unique way, you can smile and laugh off all hilarious references…including those that compare you to fabulous, gay and diva-esque TV icons! Bring it!
