THE Department of Health (DOH) has confirmed that there are already six new locally-transmitted Zika cases in the country, including one patient from Cebu City.

In a statement issued on DOH's official website, Dr. Eric Tayag, the agency's spokesperson, confirmed the new cases.

Of the six, one is from Cebu City, another is from Laguna, and four from Iloilo City.

Tayag said that the six cases have no history of travel to other countries within a month preceding the onset of illness.

They also acquired the ailment through mosquito bites and exhibited skin rashes and joint pains, but they are expected to recover in a few days, he added.
