In its social media pages, PIA Caraga said most of the victims were students from Barangay (village) Aras-asan in Cagwait who bought durian candies “sold by unidentified vendors roaming in the area today.”
Authorities and emergency rescue units including doctors rushing to the hospitals to help those who got poisoned. Officials are now investigating who are responsible of this incident.
“In an advisory, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officer Abel de Guzman urged the general public to take necessary precaution regarding the matter,” PIA-Caraga added.
Citing De Guzman, PIA-Caraga said the report has also reached Marihatag town and Tandag City.
